Russia has overtaken China in the supply of goods to Kazakhstan

OREANDA-NEWS In the first half of the year, Russia overtook China in terms of supplies of goods to Kazakhstan from 30.9 against 29.1 percent. This is reported by TASS with reference to the data of the statistical bureau of this post-Soviet country.
In January-June, Russia was the third largest importer of Kazakh products, with 8.6 percent, following Italy (17.3 percent), the largest buyer of oil from Astana, and China (18.6 percent), which surpassed it.
It is noted that the main export product of Kazakhstan is still oil. It accounts for 46.5 percent of shipments from the country abroad.
In 2025, the trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan amounted to $ 27.8 billion, of which about $19.2 billion (an increase of 3.5 percent year-on-year) accounted for supplies from Russia. According to data provided by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a July meeting with his Kazakh counterpart, in January-May 2026, the volume of bilateral trade increased by more than four percent.
