OREANDA-NEWS  Russia has increased fish supplies to Europe in 2022, despite conducting a special operation in Ukraine. This is reported by the Daily Express newspaper.

The article notes that fish supplies from Russia to European countries increased by 18.7%, to 198.8 thousand tons of products. The value of exports increased by more than 50% and reached almost one billion euros, the newspaper reports.

The import of white fish from Russia did not fall under UK sanctions, the article clarifies. Some Russian vessels also continue fishing in British territorial waters.

Earlier it was reported that for the first time Russia overtook the United States in terms of pollock fillet production. The volume of catch in 2022 reached almost 140 thousand tons.

Prior to that, experts of the National Rating Agency said that fish consumption in the Russian Federation will decrease by 5-7% due to economic difficulties. In their opinion, the demand for salmon species will decrease the most.
