OREANDA-NEWS  Shipments of sparkling and still wine from the European Union to Russia in July this year reached their highest levels since November last year, increasing 1.6 times by June, according to Eurostat data analyzed by RIA Novosti.

At the same time, the cost of supplies did not increase so much in annual terms - by 8%. As a result, their volume amounted to 60.9 million euros.

Among the EU countries, Italy remains the main supplier of wine to Russia. In monthly terms, it increased exports by 1.9 times, and in annual terms by 38% to 29.9 million euros. This was the highest since October last year.

Latvia's wine exports have also reached a record since October, with 11.2 million euros. In a month, the cost of supplies from this country to the Russian Federation increased by one and a half times, and by 13% in a year. Poland shipped 4.9 million euros worth of wine to Russia, which is a third more than a month earlier and 39% less than a year ago.

France rounded out the top 5 suppliers with exports of almost 4.1 million euros (+3% for the month) and Germany - by 3.3 million (+36%). In addition, Spain (2.5 million euros), Lithuania (2.4 million) and Portugal (1.8 million) exported wine to Russia for more than a million euros per month. At the same time, shipments from Lithuania increased 4.1 times in a month, reaching a record since November 2024.

By the end of July, Russia was ranked 6th among wine buyers from the EU.
