OREANDA-NEWS State Duma deputies together with the government are preparing a bill to ban the sale of energy products to minors. This was told to RIA Novosti by one of the authors of the initiative, a member of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Sultan Khamzayev.

According to him, the purpose of the bill is to prevent the sale of non—alcoholic energy and tonic drinks to persons under the age of 18. It is also supposed to introduce responsibility for the sale of such drinks to minors for sellers and entrepreneurs.

Khamzayev recalled that in some regions such restrictions are already in effect, in particular in Tatarstan, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug) and Novosibirsk Region.

He stressed that the increased amount of taurine, caffeine and guarana, which are contained in energy drinks, greatly affects the fragile health of the child. "This leads to an increase in cardiovascular diseases among children, which doctors state today. Add here the effect of these substances on the nervous system. The fact that energy cocktails are harmful is said by all doctors without exception," the deputy said.

Earlier it became known that Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova instructed the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work out a ban on the sale of energy drinks to minors.
