OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first quarter, sales of electric scooters in Russia increased by 43% year-on-year, to 24.5 thousand devices, distributors estimated. Retailers expect to increase sales in the next quarter due to seasonal demand. The introduction of traffic rules for electric scooters and fines for their violation can somewhat reduce the interest of citizens in this means of transportation.

In the first quarter of 2023, 43% more electric scooters were sold in the Russian Federation than in the same period last year: 24.5 thousand, by 575 million rubles, calculated in the GC "F+ tech-Marvel". GC analyst Artur Makhalyuk notes that the Chinese Kugoo remains the market leader, but its share has decreased from 30% to 21.9%. Next comes another Chinese brand Hiper, with a share of 13.9% (10.2% a year earlier), the top three is closed by Ninebot, with a market share of 12.6% (7.9% a year earlier).

The range of electric scooters continues to develop actively this year in terms of technical characteristics, safety and durability, said the manager of the product category of the group "M.Video-Eldorado" Pavel Zemskov.

According to him, in the first quarter, about 85% of sales in the electric transport category were scooters, 10% were electric bicycles, another 5% were gyroscuters and monowheels.
