OREANDA-NEWS State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes that prices for Russian goods are rising artificially. In his opinion, many manufacturers are only "hiding behind" sanctions. The chairman of the lower house threatened them with punishment. On March 10, the issue of price increases will be considered at the plenary session of the Duma. The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Maxim Shaskolsky will take part in it.

Volodin said in his Telegram channel that there is no shortage of goods in Russia, and prices can rise exclusively for imported products.

"Everyone has an understanding: in the conditions of restrictive measures imposed on our country, some goods may become more expensive. For example, due to an increase in the exchange rate or interruptions in supplies from other states," the deputy wrote.

However, prices are rising for almost all goods. The cost of food has almost doubled in some regions, prices for baby food, diapers and medicines have also increased, the speaker said.

On March 10, the State Duma will discuss the price increase and analyze the entire chain - from production to the sale of goods to find the reason for the unjustified price increase.

"It is unacceptable to profit from people, it is necessary to punish for this," Volodin concluded.

On March 9, it became known that the relevant committees of the State Duma are ready to submit amendments to the lower house of parliament on the introduction of state regulation of prices for a number of goods and services in Russia.
