OREANDA-NEWS  The cost of transporting coffee to Russia over the past year has increased 5 times, while the delivery time has also lengthened, which also could not but affect the cost of the drink itself, said Vikas Soi, the head of Milfoods, who bought the Finnish Paulig business in Russia in the spring of 2022, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"In 2022, it has grown very much – 4-5 times. For example, if earlier grain transportation from Vietnam cost 2 thousand dollars in a container to St. Petersburg, now it costs at least 10 thousand," Soi said.

According to him, logistical difficulties still remain, but the main problem now is the increase in time spent on transportation. "If earlier the delivery time was a month, a month and a half or two, now it's about three," the expert said.

Soy noted that logistics accounts for a significant part of the cost of coffee, but roasting takes up more than half. "Of course, the prices on the shelf have increased a lot. ... In general, over the past 12 months, the average price of natural coffee in the market has increased by a third," he added.

At the same time, at the moment, if we talk about prices on shelves in Russia, the average "hospital temperature" for 100 percent Arabica is 1200 rubles per kilogram, the expert concluded.
