OREANDA-NEWS.  During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the demand for five-star hotels increased 2.5 times compared to 2019, and the average cost of a night increased by 6% and amounted to 116 thousand rubles. This is reported by the business tourism agency "Aeroclub". The company studied how the demand for hotels in the northern capital has changed.

Four-star hotels fell by 20%. With an average price of 14.5 thousand rubles per night, the demand for them from business tourists increased by 34%.

The demand for three-star hotels among business travelers fell by 80%. Here, the average price of rooms is at the level of 7.9 thousand rubles, it has not changed compared to 2019.

The average cost of a night in a hotel during the SPIEF doubled and amounted to 38 thousand rubles. At the same time, the average cost of a night in St. Petersburg in April 2021 was 5 thousand rubles.

It is noted that almost half of the nights (47% vs. 29% in 2019) will be spent by business tourists in four-star hotels, and almost a third of all the nights of the forum delegates are booked in five-star hotels (26% vs. 9% in 2019). The share of nights in three-star hotels in the total volume of bookings was 11% (compared to 46% in 2019), and accommodation without categories accounted for 16% of nights.

The largest delegations to the SPIEF in 2021 will come from IT and telecom companies. They account for 39% of all bookings.

Meanwhile, in 2019, the forum was most interested in representatives of the mining, manufacturing and energy industries. They accounted for 36% of all bookings. In the same year, mining and processing companies reduced the number of nights booked by 62%. However, the most expensive room for the forum period was booked by a mining and manufacturing company for three nights in the center of St. Petersburg. The executive suite cost the company 608 thousand rubles per night.

Pharmaceutical companies are reported to be in third place in terms of interest in the forum. They reduced the number of nights booked for the event by a third.

SPIEF will be held from 2 to 5 June. The forum is planned to be held in the usual format. Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to personally participate in the SPIEF plenary session.
