OREANDA-NEWS The trade turnover between the Russian Federation and Belarus (RB) may grow to $ 60 billion by the end of 2024, significantly exceeding the levels of a year ago. Dmitry Mezentsev, Secretary of State of the Union State of the two countries, shared this assessment with Izvestia.
As the authors of the material remind, in 2022 the figure reached 43 billion dollars, and in 2023 it amounted to 53 billion.
It is noted that Belarusian food products account for a significant share in the structure of Russian imports, which experts explain by their high quality, low price and convenient logistics. Supplies from the Republic of Belarus account for almost 100 percent of milk imported into Russia, 87 percent of eggs, as well as 97 percent of finished meat products from abroad. In addition, last year the republic closed about half of imports of poultry meat and offal (51 percent), as well as beef (46 percent) to the Russian Federation, journalists cite Rosselkhoznadzor data.
The total share of countries in each other's trade has also increased. In 2024, Russia accounted for 57 percent of Belarusian imports, while the share of shipments in the opposite direction increased to 10 percent of imports of foreign goods into the Russian Federation.
The Belarusian side has also announced an increase in trade with Russia over the past year. In January-July, the increase in its volume was estimated at 8.5 percent, and later Alexander Lukashenko announced record levels of trade between the two countries.
