OREANDA-NEWS Currently, Russia's apple supply is estimated at 83 percent. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elena Fastova at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026). Her words are quoted by Interfax.
In this regard, Russia has a lot to strive for, said the deputy head of the branch ministry. By 2030, the level of apple supply should reach 100 percent, Fastova explained.
The relevant instructions, she recalled, were given by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fastova believes, will have no problems with the implementation of this goal. By 2030, the country's apple harvest is expected to grow 4.5 times compared to 2014 and reach 2.7 million tons, the deputy head of the department stated.
In the fall of 2024, Putin announced the problem of availability of apples on the domestic market against the background of crop problems in a number of regions. Then he called these fruits scarce and called on the authorities to solve the remaining supply difficulties. The Head of state also called on the authorities to speed up the process of Russia's self-sufficiency in apples. Oksana Lut, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that this task will be solved by 2028.
