The volume of Russian foreign trade has grown

OREANDA-NEWS Russian foreign trade turnover increased by 11.4 percent in the first half of 2026, to $365.6 billion, due to an increase in exports by 11.9 percent and imports by 10.8 percent, to 219.5 and 146.1 billion, respectively. Based on these information provided, it is noted that the country's trade balance amounted to 73.4 billion dollars in the reporting period, adding 14 percent to last year's 64.4 billion.
Asia remains the main area of Russian trade, accounting for 74.9 percent of Russia's total trade turnover in January-June. Year-on-year growth of 15.5 percent was primarily driven by trade with China, which increased by 26.3 percent in the first seven months of 2026 and by 25.6 percent in the first half of the year, according to Chinese customs officials.
This happened against the background of a slight decrease — from 244.8 to 228.1 billion dollars — in 2025, which occurred due to the threat of secondary US sanctions after record growth in 2023 and 2024.
