OREANDA-NEWS  The General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China has registered three Russian pork production enterprises and allowed the export of pig products from February 28, 2024, the Rosselkhoznadzor reported on Wednesday.

Products manufactured after the registration date will be allowed to be supplied.

The applications of Russian enterprises were approved by the Chinese side in the CIFER registration system.

"The approval of the relevant veterinary certificate and the certification of Russian enterprises was the final step towards opening the Chinese market for pork supplies," the message says.

The Rosselkhoznadzor does not specify which enterprises received the right to export their pig products to China. Earlier, the preparation for the supply of pork to the Chinese market was announced, in particular, by the Miratorg Agricultural Company (the leading pork producer in the Russian Federation).

As reported, on December 19 in Beijing, within the framework of the 28th regular meeting of the heads of government of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert and Head of the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China Yu Jianhua signed a protocol on inspection, quarantine and veterinary and sanitary requirements for pork exported from Russia to China. This document opened up opportunities for the supply of Russian pork to China for the first time since 2008.

In December 2023, Chinese experts inspected a number of Russian companies interested in supplying pig products to the Chinese market.

In January of this year, the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China notified about the permission to import pork (including edible pork offal) from the Russian Federation that meets the relevant requirements.

The National Union of Pig Breeders expects that Russian pork will be able to take up to 10% of imports to China in a few years.
