OREANDA-NEWS  Warehouses with electronics turned out to be overflowing in Russia, while sales of smartphones, tablets, wearable electronics and other gadgets in the country slowed down in the second half of March. On Friday, March 31, Izvestia writes about this with reference to sources.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, since the beginning of 2023, and perhaps even since December of last year, the demand for electronic equipment has been declining. The decrease compared to the same period in 2022 was about 30 percent, and sales decreased by the same percentage compared to January 2023. "There are a lot of products in warehouses — someone has more, someone has less, but demand is falling, and gadgets need to be sold," a source told the newspaper. At the same time, Apple and Samsung equipment are being bought up quickly, and Chinese gadgets from second-tier manufacturers or unknown brands are waiting for buyers for a long time. The source of the publication believes that the demand for gadgets may grow again by the beginning of the school season, that is, by the end of summer. Valery Shershnev, the leading product manager of the Laptops direction of the company, is also expecting a revival in the market in the summer.

At the same time, the signalers themselves, as well as the marketplaces, on the contrary, talk about sales growth. According to an employee of one of the distributors, overstocking may be in the hands of buyers, as it will lead to trade wars between retailers and contribute to lower prices.

In January, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree extending the simplified procedure for importing electronic devices to Russia until the end of 2023 in order to prevent shortages amid sanctions.
