OREANDA-NEWS. Turkey proposed to Russia a model for creating conditions for safe tourism, which was previously used in relation to Germany. According to this model, flights will be resumed primarily to the resort regions. Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic Mehmet Nuri Ersoy told RIA Novosti about it.

Due to the severe epidemiological situation in Turkey, Russia has limited air traffic with this country from April 15 to June 1. As reported on May 17 in the secretariat of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, she met with Ersoy and the chief foreign policy adviser to the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalyn. It was noted that a delegation from the Russian Federation would be sent to Turkey to assess the situation and the prospects for the resumption of flights.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey explained: "As you know, Russian tourists mainly fly to Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and, less often, to Izmir. If you look at the daily increase in new cases of COVID-19 infection in these regions, you can see that there are 50 % lower than the average for Turkey. In addition, hotels there mainly operate on an all-inclusive basis. "At the first stage, we propose to start flights to these airports, and then expand to the whole of Turkey."

According to him, air traffic can be expanded to other airports in the future, as the requirements of the Russian side are met.

Ersoy said: “We launched this system with Germany, it turned out to be very successful. We offered this to the Russian side. Of course, it all depends on the decision of the Russian authorities. It depends on their healthcare policy and on the decisions they make regarding traffic, and we will follow them. "
