39 thousand Armenian roses were destroyed in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS 39,000 roses imported from Armenia with forged documents were destroyed in the Smolensk region. This is reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
A large batch of flowers was imported through Belarus. A truck driven by a citizen of a neighboring republic was stopped by department inspectors together with customs officers. The truck was heading from the Minsk region to Moscow — its cargo was signed as non-alcoholic tonic drinks.
During the inspection of the truck, inspectors found 39.2 thousand roses. The driver did not have any phytosanitary documents for them, but it was possible to establish their Armenian origin from the preserved fragments of the labels.
Rosselkhoznadzor restricted the import of flowers from Armenia on May 20. The measure will be in effect until the end of the inspection of greenhouses. The reason was called infected flowers and non-compliance with standards. The decision was also motivated by the protection of the phytosanitary well-being and export potential of the country. Armenia imports roses, gerberas, carnations and alstroemeria to Russia.
Later, the Rosselkhoznadzor appealed to the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of Iran with a request to suspend the certification of flowers for export to Russia, since it is safe to say that some of them are grown in Armenia. According to the ministry, this year the volume of supplies from Iran significantly exceeds the levels of last year. At the same time, the product is completely identical to what was previously supplied from Armenia.
