OREANDA-NEWS The European Parliament approved by a massive vote granting to Moldova macro-financial assistance of €100 million today.

The assistance will be provided to support the economic stabilization and structural reform agenda of Moldova, contributing to the coverage of its external financing needs in 2017-2018.

Of the total assistance of €100 million, €40 million were agreed in the form of a grant and €60 million in the form of a loan, financial means that will complement the resources offered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other multilateral institutions.

The European Commission and the European External Action Service will monitor compliance with the preconditions set for Moldova and on the basis of the conclusions it will be decided the first tranche allocation.

The preconditions include respect for democracy, the rule of law and human rights, the fight against corruption, transparency in the management of public finances and the strengthening of institutional capacities.
