OREANDA-NEWS A new Japanese visa application center will open in Russia amid a record tourist flow of compatriots to this popular Asian country. This is reported by the Travel News Telegram channel with reference to the tender of the Japanese embassy.

As part of the tender, the country will select an operator who will issue visas to Russians in the future. The Visa Application Center will start operating on January 9 and will continue until March 31, 2026. It is not specified in which city it will appear.

Currently, Japanese visa applications are accepted in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Earlier it was reported that in the first 9 months of 2025, Russian tourists visited Japan 129 thousand times, breaking the historical record for trips to this Asian country. Experts stressed that in 2019, 120,000 Russians visited Japan in 12 months with direct flights.
