OREANDA-NEWS  The Republic of Korea is discussing with the United States and other allies its possible contribution to solving the problem of the Strait of Hormuz amid the crisis in the Middle East, the administration of the South Korean president said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump called on China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and other countries to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz, later accusing the allies of not being ready to help. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Korea, Ahn Gyu Baek, stated that the South Korean authorities had not received an official request from the United States to send ships.
