OREANDA-NEWS   By mid-April, the retail price of red caviar in Russia had decreased by an average of 30 percent. Alexander Saveliev, head of the fisheries information agency, announced a sharp drop in prices for the popular delicacy. His words are quoted by Interfax.

Currently, the analyst noted, in some Russian stores you can buy a kilogram of red caviar for 6 thousand rubles. At the beginning of the year, its retail value was on average 30 percent higher, Saveliev stated.

The main reason for this dynamic, the expert called the features of the assortment presented on the shelves. Now almost all salmon caviar in stores is from last year. Against the background of the imminent expiration date, sellers are trying to reduce the price for the end user, Saveliev concluded.

A gradual decrease in prices for red caviar is also being recorded against the background of an increase in production. According to the results of last year, experts of the All-Russian Association of Fishermen (VARPE) pointed out, the production of this delicacy in the domestic market increased by 21 percent.

However, red caviar at 6 thousand rubles per kilogram, analysts explained, is rather an exception. Its real average cost in early April was 9387 rubles. The Association of Omnichannel Retail Companies announced a reduction in prices by an average of 15-20 percent.
