OREANDA-NEWS  Microsoft Corporation has closed almost 1.5 thousand vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system (OS). This is stated in the Cisco Talos blog.

Security experts have studied the October security updates for Windows and other products that Microsoft has released. Experts counted fixes for 1,415 vulnerabilities in them, 85 of which the company classified as critical. According to the authors of Cisco Talos, this is a record number of vulnerabilities fixed by Microsoft at one time.

So, among the closed problems, the vulnerability CVE-2026-96951 was found in the Windows shell. It allows you to bypass system protection and affects Windows 10, Windows 11 and some versions of Windows Server. At the same time, the company knows that attackers have already used it in real attacks.

Cisco Talos specialists said that in just one month, the company eliminated more vulnerabilities than in the whole of 2020, when their number was 1,261. Also, the September package of almost a thousand fixes was also a record at the time of release. The authors of the report concluded that users should install the available Windows updates, primarily because of the vulnerability that has already been used in attacks.

Earlier, the authors of the Windows Latest edition explained that drivers installed in Windows can bring down the entire operating system if they get too wide access. In this case, the system will not always be able to isolate the problem and continue working.
