OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian hockey player was detained in Poland on suspicion of espionage, the Prosecutor General of the republic Zbigniew Zebro said.

"Another success of the investigators of the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Security Agency. A spy was caught acting under the guise of an athlete," Zebra wrote on his Twitter page (blocked in the Russian Federation).

The prosecutor added that the detainee "was a player of the hockey club of the first league."

The press service of the Minister-coordinator of the special services stated that the athlete performed "assigned tasks, among other things, to identify critical infrastructure in several voivodeships."

The name of the hockey player is not called. It is only known that he has been in Poland since October 2021.

Polish authorities regularly announce the detention of "Russian spies". In most cases, no evidence of illegal activity of Russians is provided, and the charges remain declarative.
