OREANDA-NEWS  An electronic reconnaissance aircraft of the Swedish Air Force Gulfstream IV is flying over the territory of Finland near the borders of the Russian Federation, follows from flight data analyzed by RIA Novosti.

The plane took off from the Swedish Air Force base in Linkoping at about 9:00 a.m. Moscow time, entered Finnish airspace and began circling along the Russian border near the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk Region.

Swedish Gulfstream regularly performs reconnaissance flights near the Russian borders. The aircraft conducts reconnaissance not only near the western borders of the Russian Federation, but also sometimes flies over the Black Sea near the coast of Crimea.

In recent years, the Russian Federation has noted the unprecedented activity of NATO near the western borders. The alliance is expanding its initiatives and calls it "deterring Russian aggression." The Russian authorities have repeatedly expressed concern about the buildup of the bloc's forces in Europe.
