OREANDA-NEWS "Alrosa" brought the Svetlinskaya HPP to a design capacity of 370 MW, investments in the project exceeded 5 billion rubles, the company's press service reported.
"Alrosa" is putting into operation the fourth hydroelectric unit of the Svetlinskaya hydroelectric power station (Vilyuyskaya HPP-3). With its launch, the station has reached a design installed capacity of 370 MW… Investments in the project have exceeded 5 billion rubles," the report says.
The launch ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation — Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev, Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev and CEO of "Alrosa" Pavel Marinychev.
It is noted that this is the world's first hydroelectric power plant built on permafrost, rather than on the traditional rock foundation for such facilities. It refers to experimental hydraulic engineering structures.
"The HPP provides electricity to "Alrosa" production facilities and works in the interests of the entire Western energy district of Yakutia. Among its consumers are enterprises of the oil and gas and gold mining industries, as well as objects of transport, telecommunications and social infrastructure," the message says.
According to the release, the equipment is fully manufactured in Russia by the leading manufacturer of hydropower equipment "Power Machines" company.
Installation of the main equipment began in December. In August, the hydraulic unit was installed and tested. It will be put into operation more than six months earlier than the deadline stipulated by the project — April 2027, the company stressed.
"Alrosa" provides 76% of electricity needs from renewable sources, according to the company's report.
