OREANDA-NEWS The New Glenn rocket with the Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers (ESCAPADE) spacecraft successfully launched from the Cape Canaveral space center in Florida (USA). This is reported by NASA.
The launch took place on November 12 at 23:55 Moscow time. 34 minutes after launch, a pair of satellites separated from the carrier. The mission is expected to arrive to Mars in September 2027.
The launch was the second for Blue Origin's New Glenn carrier.
Previously, the company postponed the launch of New Glenn from ESCAPADE.
As part of the ESCAPADE mission, it is planned to study the interaction of the solar wind and the Martian atmosphere, as a result of which the gas envelope of the Red Planet flows into outer space, present an updated map of the residual magnetosphere of Mars and test a new flight path to the planet.
