OREANDA-NEWS  An outbreak of a new highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 avian influenza has occurred at a poultry farm in Belgium. This is reported by Reuters with reference to data from the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

The enterprise where the outbreak was discovered is located in the vicinity of the French border. To prevent the epidemic, specialists had to resort to slaughtering 20,100 birds.

Earlier it became known that due to outbreaks of avian flu and low profitability of production, the production of chicken and eggs in Russia will remain approximately at last year's level, despite increased demand.
