OREANDA-NEWS  Thanks to the railways through Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Armenia has the opportunity to trade with the European Union. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He was quoted by the News-Armenia agency.

In particular, we are talking about the Akhalkalaki (Georgia) —Kars (Turkey) route. As Pashinyan noted, this railway is now open for Armenian exports and imports. The same applies to the railway of Azerbaijan.

He recalled that Armenia currently has railway connections to Russia through Georgia and Azerbaijan, and then to China through Russia and Kazakhstan. Now, a similar communication with the European Union is possible.

"In the near future, it is expected to open the Armenia—Turkey, Armenia—Azerbaijan railway, and then through Nakhichevan — Armenia—Iran. We will witness these events in the near future as a result of the TRIPP project", — promised the head of the Armenian government.

In early April, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said that by the end of 2025, the trade turnover between Russia and Armenia, considered an ally of Moscow, had dropped by 5.1 billion dollars amid negotiations on Yerevan's rapprochement with the European Union.
