OREANDA-NEWS The bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia need a deep transformation. This statement was made by the head of the Permanent Commission on Foreign Relations of the Parliament, Sarkis Khandanyan, "Sputnik Armenia" reports on Telegram.

"Relations between Armenia and Russia need to be transformed, but this should not lead to a rupture," he said at one of the sessions of the APRI Forum 2026.

According to him, Russia cannot be a guarantor of the republic's security. Khandanyan noted that Moscow and Yerevan will continue to resolve the accumulated problems through negotiations.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that relations between Armenia and Russia "will not be the same as before," but these changes are not related to a specific person or political force. He stressed that Yerevan and Moscow had previously cooperated during the period of the military conflict, and now it is necessary to reconsider relations taking into account peacetime.
