OREANDA-NEWS Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was stated by the country's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, during a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS. His words are quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

"Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the CIS countries in the trade, economic and transport spheres," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Minister pointed to the positive dynamics of trade turnover, the development of international East—West and North—South transport corridors, as well as port and railway infrastructure. According to him, against the background of growing tension in the world, compliance with the fundamental norms and principles of international law is of particular importance.

Bayramov also confirmed Baku's commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with all CIS countries.

Earlier, the foreign ministers of the CIS countries supported the abandonment of the arms race in outer space. The Ministers adopted a corresponding statement.
