OREANDA-NEWS The twelfth package of EU sanctions against Russia will include new restrictions against individuals and export restrictions, including on diamonds, EU diplomacy Chief Josep Borrel said following a meeting in Brussels of the foreign ministers of the association countries.

"I hope that I will be able to submit my proposal on this package to the EU Council together with the proposal of the European Commission on the regulation necessary for the implementation of sanctions. He will include new lists of personal restrictions, new export restrictions, including diamonds, actions to strengthen the oil price ceiling to limit Russia's income, the fight against circumvention of sanctions," he said.

According to the official, his proposal is currently undergoing final approval, so a new sanctions list may be submitted as early as Wednesday.
After the introduction of the 11th package of sanctions in June of this year, the personal restrictions of the European Union affected almost 1.8 thousand individuals and organizations. Restrictive measures involve freezing assets in the countries of the Union, and EU citizens and companies are prohibited from providing funds to persons involved in the sanctions lists. Individuals were additionally banned from traveling, which will not allow them to enter the European Union or cross its territory in transit.

As Vladimir Putin noted, the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long—term strategy of Western countries, and their main goal is to worsen the lives of millions of people. Nevertheless, according to the head of state, Moscow is calmly going through this constant pressure, and the initiators of sanctions are punishing themselves.
