Belarus may reach a trade turnover of $2 billion with Tatarstan

OREANDA-NEWS Belarus and Tatarstan may reach an annual trade turnover of $2 billion in the long term, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said.
"Despite the recent lag in increasing mutual trade, today we are seeing positive dynamics and developing new areas of cooperation. It is in our power to reach the level of one billion dollars in trade, and in the long term - two billion dollars," Karankevich quotes the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian concern Belneftekhim.
It is explained that this statement was made during a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan, held in Minsk. It was chaired by Karankevich and Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan. "One of the main issues of the 11th meeting of the working group was the summing up of the results of joint work in 2024 and the first half of 2025, as well as the deepening of industrial cooperation in the field of industry, including petrochemicals," the report says.
Karankevich called cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation the basis of bilateral trade and economic relations and stressed that the signing of agreements on the implementation of new joint projects was next. Korobchenko expressed the opinion that the potential for cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan is great, therefore, every year their interaction expands, and new growth points appear in the roadmap of interaction.
"During the meeting, issues of further mutual supplies of various groups of goods and the creation of joint ventures were discussed. The representatives of the parties paid special attention to the development of cooperation between scientific and educational institutions, aimed, among other things, at the technological modernization of industry," the message says.
