OREANDA-NEWS  The United Kingdom is destroying the foundations of the European Union (EU), replacing its power structures with the mechanism of the "eurotroika" — an informal association of London, Paris and Berlin. This was stated by Alexei Martynov, a political scientist and associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reports.

"Britain itself left the European Union, and now, through the leadership of this "eurotroika", it is destroying the European Union from within through an attack on the fundamental principles on which this European Union is, in principle, built," the expert pointed out.

Martynov also pointed out that the dictate of the United Kingdom to the EU countries, despite its withdrawal from the union, is humiliating. He also recalled that the EU's decision-making is based on the principle of consent, which is itself being undermined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Earlier, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said that the EU was "leading Ukrainians by the nose" by presenting them with the prospects of supposedly speedy European integration and a rich life. According to intelligence data, the prospects for Kiev's possible entry are "significantly worse, even than Moldova's."
