Canada to join NATO Joint Expeditionary Force

OREANDA-NEWS Canada has submitted an official application to join the NATO Joint Expeditionary Force, commanded by the United Kingdom, the Canadian broadcaster CBC reported on Thursday.
According to him, the application was submitted the day before by Prime Minister Mark Carney at a meeting with his British counterpart Andy Burnham.
Carney called this structure an important initiative, noting that Canada has other strong military ties with the UK. At the same time, he did not mention what Canada's participation in the functioning of this corps would be at a practical level, adding that it would be considered by the high command of the Canadian army.
The SAF recalls that the United Kingdom invited Canada to join the NATO Joint Expeditionary Force more than a decade ago. The concept of Canada's participation in this structure of the North Atlantic Alliance was discussed at the NATO summit in Wales in 2014, but in the end, the government of then Prime Minister Stephen Harper rejected the proposals.
