OREANDA-NEWS  Beijing is calling on Washington to immediately lift increased duties on Chinese steel and aluminum, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Thursday.

The White House earlier announced a decision to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from China three times. According to US President Joe Biden, the decision to increase a number of import duties will not lead to a deterioration in his relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We urge the United States to address its own problems, stop raising duties on Chinese products and immediately cancel additional duties imposed on China," the ministry said in a statement.

It is noted that "China will take all necessary measures to protect its rights and interests."

At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China noted that US pressure on other countries to limit Chinese products would undermine the security and stability of global production and supply chains.
