China's largest carmaker is facing serious problems

OREANDA-NEWS China's largest carmaker is facing serious problems, despite the successful performance in July. In the middle of summer, BYD sold about 420 thousand cars, which was 22 percent higher than the result of the same month in 2025. The manufacturer expects that this is a new starting point: the second half of the year should compensate for the shortfall in the first half of the year, writes Bloomberg.
To reach the minimum mark of the stated annual target of 5-5.5 million units, the company now needs to ship an average of about 530,000 vehicles per month. So far, this condition has not been fulfilled, since in January–June the total sales volume amounted to only 1.81 million cars.
The first half of the year turned out to be stressful: the conveyor was temporarily stopped for reconfiguration for the production of improved batteries. Against this background, the trend towards a sharp increase in foreign supplies has been consolidated. Exports accounted for 43 percent of the sales structure, as the concern is actively exploring the markets of South America and Europe. At the same time, sales within China are stalling due to the general economic downturn and increased competition.
