OREANDA-NEWS The heat wave in Europe was caused by a combination of a stable anticyclone, an influx of warm air and global warming, a climate expert at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) told RIA Novosti Peter Sigmund.
"The core of the high-pressure area with the warmest air was first located over Spain and France, and then gradually moved towards the Netherlands," the expert quoted the findings of the Royal Meteorological Institute.
So, the highest temperature in the Netherlands at the end of June was recorded in the south of the country in Limburg – it reached 39.4 degrees.
