OREANDA-NEWS The former British ambassador to the United States, Lord Peter Mandelson, who was accused of having links with American financier Jeffrey Epstein, was detained in London. This is reported by the British edition of The Times.

"This afternoon, plainclothes police officers escorted Lord Mandelson out of his London home," the publication said.

The details of the charges against Lord Mandelson are still unknown. The ex-ambassador and his lawyers also did not have time to comment on the situation. Police had previously searched the home of a diplomat believed to be linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

It is assumed that Lord Peter Mandelson gave the pedophile financier confidential correspondence of members of the British government. In addition, it became known about a bank transfer in the amount of 75 thousand dollars to a diplomat from Epstein.

In early February, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was threatened with resignation due to the scandal surrounding Lord Peter Mandelson. Lord Mandelson was appointed ambassador already during the Labor government and after it became known about his ties with Epstein.
