OREANDA-NEWS European women turned out to be scarier than men for birds living in cities. This is reported by the website Phys.org .
An international group of ornithologists has found that chickadees, sparrows, thrushes and other urban birds fly away faster when a woman approaches them. The study was conducted in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland and Spain. The scientists selected men and women of the same height and build and dressed them in the same clothes. The participants of the experiment walked in a straight line along the park paths, and ornithologists evaluated the behavior of birds.
It turned out that the men managed to get about a meter closer to the birds. When a woman walked through the park, the birds flew away much earlier. Of the 37 species studied, magpies were the first to fly away, and pigeons were the closest to women. Scientists have concluded that birds can recognize a person's gender, but what exactly scares them about women is still unknown.
