OREANDA-NEWS The leader of the opposition Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), former President of the country Igor Dodon congratulated the Russians on Russia Day, speaking in favor of strategic relations between the states.

"I wish the Russians well and prosperity. I am convinced of the need to return strategic partnership with Russia in all areas of interest to Moldova," Dodon wrote in his Telegram channel.

The ex-President noted the closeness of the two peoples in spirit, common faith, history, values, views on education, family and culture. "There have been different stages in the centuries-old relations between our countries, but the overwhelming majority of Moldovan citizens have always spoken, and I am sure they will speak for friendship and cooperation with Russia," Dodon believes.

The PSRM went into opposition after losing the parliamentary elections in 2021. The current parliament is controlled by the pro-European Action and Solidarity Party, which has also formed a government.
