OREANDA-NEWS  AvtoVAZ, the largest Russian manufacturer of passenger cars, and its president Maxim Sokolov were included in the EU sanctions lists as part of the 19th package of sanctions. The document is published in the official journal of the EU.

A representative of the company, in a comment to RIA Novosti, indicated that inclusion in the sanctions lists would not affect the company, because it does not have business relations with European counterparties.

The Evraz steel and mining company, the Polyus gold mining company, the Far Eastern Shipping Company (DVMP, the parent company of the Fesco Group), and the UEC-Ufa Engine-Building Production Association (part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) also fell under restrictive measures.

Transactions with Almaz-Antey, Sovcomflot, Uralvagonzavod, KAMAZ, Sevmash, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and Oboronprom are prohibited. As part of the blow to the financial infrastructure, from January 25, 2026, the EU imposes a ban on transactions through the Mir payment system and the Rapid Payment System (SBP). At the same time, the Russian stablecoin A7A5 was also sanctioned.

The main topic of the new package was sanctions against oil and gas exports. Since 2027, the European Union has banned the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. The ban on transactions with two major Russian oil companies is also being tightened, and the list of tankers included in the Russian shadow fleet is replenished with 117 vessels.

Earlier, Sokolov, against the background of the decision to extend the reduced working week at AvtoVAZ until the end of the year, proposed that the state compensate foreign buyers of Lada cars for part of their cost.
