OREANDA-NEWS  The F-35 fighters ordered by Finland from the United States are being transferred to the Finnish Air Force base in Lapland ahead of schedule. This information was provided by the Iltalehti publication.

Earlier it was reported that the first fighters will arrive at the base of the Finnish Air Force in Rovaniemi by October.

"Sources in the field of foreign policy and security have confirmed to Iltalehti that the first F-35 fighters of the air force are arriving in Finland," the material says.

In turn, the commander of the air Force, Timo Herranen, said that he had set the task to put the fighters into service as soon as possible. It is also claimed that American pilots are transferring fighters.

Earlier it became known that NATO and the United States could deploy nuclear weapons in Finland at any time. This was stated by Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish national conservative "Freedom Alliance" party. Prior to that, Finnish President Alexander Stubb approved the lifting of the ban on the import and storage of nuclear weapons in the country. The amendments came into force on July 1.
