OREANDA-NEWS  The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia considers it necessary to optimize the fish supply chain to control prices by reducing the number of intermediaries, the service said.

"According to the service, in order to contain price changes, it is necessary to optimize the supply chain by reducing the number of intermediaries between the stages of extraction, processing and sale," the report says.

The FAS came to this conclusion after studying the wholesale prices of large fishing companies for the most popular types of fish — pollock, cod, haddock, pink salmon, Pacific herring.
