OREANDA-NEWS  Western countries entered into a new cold war with Russia out of fear of Moscow's strengthening due to its capabilities and resources. This was stated by the head of the Finnish Ministry of Defense (MO) Antti Hyakkianena, Politico reports.

"Russia has the opportunity and the ability to continue the [Russian-Ukrainian] conflict for many years. Many overestimate that the West and Ukraine are winning," the head of the Finnish military department said, adding that for the sake of supporting Ukraine and opposing Moscow, NATO is ready for a new cold war and an arms race.

Earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, Karl Rzechka, said that he considers Russia a potential military opponent. According to him, Moscow poses a direct threat to the country's security, as well as to all states of the Western military bloc.
