OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the French Ministry of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, said on the air of the BFM TV channel that the European Union is considering additional options for sanctions against Russia because of the situation in Ukraine, TASS reports.

“Is it worth going further? All options on the table. I will not name the possible options now and will prefer to keep our intentions secret in order to guarantee the effectiveness of these economic measures,” the minister said.

He spoke about the effectiveness and unprecedented nature of the imposed sanctions and stressed that the European Union still has "room for maneuver."

“We are working on this with other finance ministers (of the European Union). On March 10-11, a summit of heads of state (EU) will be held under the chairmanship of (French President) Emmanuel Macron. This summit will also be an occasion to consider options,” Le Maire announced.

Earlier, three ships and a yacht belonging to the Russians were detained in France.

The European Union is preparing a fourth package of sanctions against Russia because of its military operation in Ukraine. This was stated by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.
