OREANDA-NEWS German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Berlin is negotiating with partners to increase supplies for Ukraine's air defense. His words are quoted by TASS.

Merz clarified that he conducts negotiations on supplies for air defense in the format of personal conversations with a number of heads of state and government around the world. "Now this is the weakest point," he stressed, admitting that the coming winter will be difficult for Ukraine.

The German chancellor added that consultations on aid to Ukraine are also taking place as part of preparations for the next meeting of the European Council. The meeting is scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Brussels.

Earlier, Merz stated that the coming weeks or months would be decisive in the confrontation with Russia. He promised to do everything possible to support Kyiv and “convince people that this is in our interests.”
