OREANDA-NEWS The Hungarian authorities oppose the accelerated admission of Ukraine to the European Union. As Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban explained in an interview with ATV, the republic should seek to join the union on common terms.
According to Orban, the issue of Ukraine's accession to the EU should be resolved based on the achievements of the republic's authorities in the process of accession negotiations. "We do not support any accelerated entry," the diplomat said.
She stressed that when negotiations on Kiev's accession are completed, Hungary will hold a referendum on Ukraine's admission to the European Union. According to her, the results of this referendum will be binding.
Earlier, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Ignacy Nemchitsky said that Ukraine would not be able to join the EU while fighting was underway.
