OREANDA-NEWS Herring salad under a fur coat fell in price by 1% in September compared to August - the average cost of a serving for four people was 219 rubles, the Fish Union calculated.

The "Herring under a fur coat" index is the average cost of a serving of classic salad for four people based on average retail prices according to Rosstat. The calculation includes herring fillets, beets, potatoes, onions, carrots, eggs and mayonnaise.

"Taking into account Rosstat data for September 2026, the index of "herring under a fur coat" amounted to 219 rubles. Dynamics for the month (September 2026 to August 2026): the index decreased by 1% due to the seasonal factor," the report says.

It is noted that vegetables for the specified period fell in price by 9-14% against the background of harvesting a new crop. Mayonnaise and eggs increased in price by 1% and 8%, respectively. The retail price of herring fillets has not changed in monthly terms.
