OREANDA-NEWS More than four thousand civil servants in Ukraine will be cut to save the budget. The decision to lay off staff was announced by the country's Prime Minister, Sergei Koretsky.
According to the official, against the background of the budget deficit, more than four thousand positions in the central executive authorities will be cut.
"As part of optimizing and improving the efficiency of the state apparatus in the central executive authorities, it is planned to reduce more than four thousand vacant positions at the first stage," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
In total, the number of deputy ministers will be reduced by almost 20 percent, and the number of deputy heads of other central executive authorities will be reduced by 18.
According to Politico, Ukraine's financial reserves, intended for conducting military operations, are drying up. President of the Republic Vladimir Zelensky acknowledged that the hole in Ukraine's budget creates obstacles to the development and production of critically important weapons.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung estimates that Ukraine may need an additional 70 billion euros in 2027. These funds are needed in addition to the already agreed assistance from the European Union. About 40 billion euros are needed for defense spending, and another 30 billion for other budget items.
