OREANDA-NEWS Last year, India received about 1-1.4 million barrels of oil per day from Russia, and in 2024 imports continue at about the same volumes. This was stated by the secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Natural Gas of the Asian country Pankaj Jane, his words are quoted by TASS.

In 2023, the share of Russian oil in the structure of Indian imports averaged 22-27 percent, he said. In general, the country received 5 million barrels of raw materials per day from foreign suppliers last year. The share of imported energy resources was at the level of 85-88 percent.

At the same time, the volume of Russian oil imports varies depending on the time of year. Given this circumstance, the structure of Indian imports of raw materials from the Russian Federation "has ups and downs." "We have summer and winter, in some months we need more oil, in some months less," concluded Jane.

Earlier, the International Energy Agency (IEA) named India as the country with the greatest demand for oil in the coming years. According to analysts' expectations, the Asian state is able to provide more than a third of the global increase in demand for raw materials by 2030.
