Investigation Into the Purchases of a Chinese Vaccine Against Coronavirus Begins in Ukraine

OREANDA-NEWS The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has launched an investigation into possible purchases by the Ministry of Health of the Chinese vaccine against the Sinovac coronavirus. The purchases were carried out at an inflated price. This information is reported by the NABU Public Control Council.
With the help of a private intermediary firm in Ukraine, a Chinese drug for coronavirus was purchased at a price of 17.85 dollars per dose. This price was one of the highest in the world, and the overall effectiveness of this vaccine during the last round of testing in Brazil showed only 50.38 percent.
Presumably, the actions during the purchase of the drug were regarded as abuse of power or official position, which entailed grave consequences.
At the end of 2020, the state enterprise Medical Procurement of Ukraine signed an agreement with the supplier of PrJSC Lekhim for the supply of 1.9 million doses of the Chinese vaccine against coronavirus. An advance payment in the amount of UAH 964.3 million was paid.
