Iran and Oman are close to concluding an interim agreement on the Strait of Hormuz

OREANDA-NEWS The conclusion of an interim agreement on the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman may be announced as early as Wednesday, August 5, Axios reports, citing informed sources.
A U.S. official and a regional source told the portal that the Iranian leadership completed the approval process for the agreement on Tuesday.
According to sources, the deal under discussion establishes a 60-day interim agreement on the strait between Oman and Iran with the possibility of extension.
All vessels entering the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf will take the northern route through Iranian waters. All vessels leaving through the Strait to the Arabian Sea will take the southern route through Omani waters in coordination with Iran. No fees will be charged during the 60-day period.
In the meantime, the parties will work on clearing mines in the middle lane of the Strait for 30 days.
After the middle lane is cleared, it will be used for entry and exit traffic in accordance with the terms of the permanent agreement to be concluded between Oman and Iran.
The portal reports that the United States, as well as officials from Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia also participated in the negotiations as intermediaries.
In recent days, several telephone conversations have taken place between Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.
